Student Teaching

JM Hill Elementary School

This was my student teaching portion of my teaching experience. This experience lasted 12-weeks long. I was required to go into the school seven days a week on a regular teaching schedule. This part of my teaching experience took place in a second-grade classroom at JM Hill Elementary School in East Stroudsburg, PA. During this experience, I planned daily lessons for students for Math, Social Studies, Science, Reading, and Language Arts. This experience allowed me to be responsible for teaching and planning in-person and online lessons while following PA curriculum. I gained experience assisting students with a range of disabilities and learning differences and participated in parent-teacher conferences. I administered, graded, and provided feedback on curriculum which helped me gain experience in many different aspects of teaching.

Below, you will see artifacts created during my Student Teaching experience along with a brief description!

This artifact is a Student Learning Objectives project. This project required me to give pre and post-assessments for students that focused on reading accuracy and fluency. I also engaged in working with DIBELS Reading Assessments while using Benchmarks to find where students need improvement in reading. I chose five students who were struggling with reading accuracy and fluency. I planned lessons that focused on repeated reading, shared reading, and sight word recognition to improve students reading accuracy and fluency. I recorded results and used charts to track student's growth focusing on a singular learning objective

This artifact is an analysis of the classroom I was in during a two-day time span. I analyzed classroom routines, schedules, and management plans while comparing that to other grades.

This artifact is a lesson plan I created that focuses on the math concept of skip counting. Within this lesson, I use various forms of technology such as a HoverCam, educational videos, and an interactive whiteboard.
